Write A Better Novel/Show Don't Tell

No. I don't plan to post regularly on Tuesdays, too. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are quite enough, thank you.

But if I have something to share that doesn't fit into my regular post schedule, I'll slip it in here:

On Tuesday Miscellany.

Let's say I come across a blog site that stands out from the crowd.  Then I'll pass it along, as a thanks to the author for creating it and as a gift to you for stopping by.

You may not always be interested in the site's specialty, but I'm sure you'll agree it was at least worth a visit. Who knows, you might even find a site you'll want to save to your "Favorites" and visit again.

And then there are those days when I just want to:
  • Bring in another guest, besides Dorothy Skarles, of course, who has become a regular here on Fridays.
  • Share tips on craft.
  • Make an announcement.  You know, when something really good (or bad) happens in my writing life that I just can't wait to share.
  • Do a book talk.  I've read some good ones lately that I'd like to plug.
The posts will be short and sweet, because I don't want to turn this into a lot of work.  If all goes according to plan, I need to concentrate HARD on revising my four novels, get them in tip-top shape and possibly cut back on blogging (oh my).

So for today, I'd like to share Bill Henderson's blog, Write a Better Novel, Practical wisdom for novelists and other storytellers.

Bill describes his blog as, "A professional blog for novelists and other fiction writers who want to add new skills and understand old skills in new ways."

And he has some great stuff.  Check out this video, for instance, called Show, Don't Tell.  It's worth a look.

Enjoy!

Margaret, I am happy to be your guest blogger. I am learning so much. And if any fans of yours would like me to answer any questions on writing I will try to give an answer. Thanks for giving me the push to start writing again.

Hi Patricia. I know what you mean. But this link is a good one.

Hi Dorothy. It would have been a shame--and a crime--for you to stop writing. I'm glad being a guest blogger here has given you the push you needed.

Hi Norelle. I Bill Henderson's video, short, but sweet. The book revisions are never done, it seems. Thanks for stopping by.

I will check out the video. You will never know that one day, I will finally get to finish all my drafts too. Probably another 20 years. Smiles.

I know exactly how you feel, Self Sagacity. I still have polishing to do on three novels. Hopely I'll finish at least one more this year. That is, if I can stay off the Internet.
