Wednesday, I did a post called Gratitude Just Makes Sense in which I talked about how gratitude burns away the shadow of life's circumstances, like the sun burns away fog--that empty mode we can lock ourselves into, where we're unable to shift our energy from bad to good.
Gratitude isn't just about being thankful.
Gratitude changes us neurologically, makes our brains stronger, just makes sense.
My Thursday Two Questions to you are:
- How has being grateful enhanced your life in 2010?
- What are you grateful for as we begin 2011?
Thanks for stopping by.

it's been a really strange year although my family and i have been blessed. gratitude made me appreciate even the tiniest thing and gesture, made me happier and kinder.
there's a lot to be grateful for--God's generosity and love, my mom's good health [and my dog's, too], understanding and company of friends, patience and support of colleagues, kindness of strangers. i am grateful for the blessings i'll be receiving in 2011.:p
I've always been a very positive person, I tend to see the plus side of things rather than the negative. So I suppose that is gratitude in a sense. I know it keeps me healthier and happier than I would be if I were depressed.
Good health and a loving husband/soul mate.
Hi Luna. I like how you express that gratitude made you happier and kinder. Two other good reasons to be grateful. Yes, let's be grateful ahead of time for the blessings we'll be receiving in 2011.
Hi SquirrelQueen. You are so fortunate to have a positive attitude. I know people who are so negative they can hardly function. As I said in my post, seeing the plus side--being grateful--just makes sense, though it isn't always easy to do. Yes, here's to a healthy and happy new year with loving family and friends.
1) Gratitude keeps me humble, and guide me to be more compassionate toward people.
2) In the New Year, I will be grateful just for making ends meet.
Happy New Year!
Hello DoanLegacy. Two more reasons that gratitude makes sense, humility and compassion. Well said. I think many people will be happy just to make ends meet in the coming year. It's sad, but at the same time, maybe the state of the economy is teaching the world to be more grateful for what's important in life. We can only hope.
I am most grateful for everything 2010 has brought into my life. I have my health, sanity, love of friends and family, and December has brought me more writing as well as editing assignments. What a wonderful year.
In 2011, I look forward to repeatig all of the above, as well as making new friends and keeping the ones I already have. bernadine
Hi Bernadine. I'd love to hear about your writing and editing assignments sometime. Sounds interesting. And talking about making new friends, I'm glad to have met you as an online-friend, this year.
1. How has being grateful enhanced your life in 2010? I appreciate different things whether old or new much more. And because of it, I gained more out of life.
2. What are you grateful for as we begin 2011? Grateful for a wonderful partner and SO. Our future starts at the root of our understanding and respect for each other.
Hi Self Sagacity. I love how you say that your (and your partner's) future "starts at the root of our understanding and respect for each other." Well said. Understanding and respect are so important in a relationship. Actually, that's what everyone I know is searching for in life and two of the major reasons we seek a soul mate. May your 2011 be filled with much understanding and respect.
Hi Margaret, Thanks for asking about my writing. I have been a freelance writer for years, with over 600 articles published, both fiction and non-fiction. I will write anything, anywhere and anytime. Currently doing assignments for Lodi Monthly Magazine writing the Buzz on Bizz section.
I also have been doing some editing/critiquing, which is another aspect of the genre I find enchanting.
Even though I don't have a blog, I enjoy reading and participating in a couple of blog-sites and this month I will have my first 'blog' assignment as a 'guest writer' on www.inandaroundthegarden.com This opportunity opens yet another door for me in the wonderful world of writing.
Thanks fo asking about 'my love affair with the written word.' Bernadine
Hi Bernadine. 600 articles published! Wow. You've been doing this for some time and with great results. I'll check out the blog you mentioned and hope to catch your post. Maybe you can send me a reminder on the day you do so. If you ever want to do a guest blog on this site let me know. I have most Tuesdays free. On January 11, Julie Lindsay will be doing a post. Would love to have you too.
